FLUX
Realtime Data Artwork
FLUX is a digital artwork based on Jan Hendrix's botanical forms that contrasts with the modernist campus architecture of CENTRO, Mexico City's leading design university. FLUX expresses the vibrancy of the creative hub and celebrates the beauty of natural phenomena.
The piece uses a generative drawing system to visualize the fluctuating patterns of activity on campus through the shadows of swaying grasses cast on a virtual model of the building's central staircase.

Real-time data about the community's activity animate the dancing shadows with lighting effects and wind, reflecting the campus's vibrancy. The digital work respects the original drawings and links them to rapidly developing digital technologies that merge art, nature, and the built environment.

It illustrates how people and digital content occupy and animate the campus, emphasizing the dual facets of physical and digital presence in modern life.
